Agreed. That's totally part of the problem. I draw attention to the seemingly bizarre concept of being homeless in a city not because I think there are vast tracts of free land for people to relocate, but to point out the helplessness created by industrial consumerism.

And there are still opportunities. Even if you own a fraction of an acre of land, you can grow food. If you don't own, perhaps you can find people who do. And I list other practices, almost like therapy -- bike or walk to work, cook a meal from scratch, forage. There's no one size fits all. The point of the article is about reconnection to nature and community, however that may be possible for you.
