Agreed, we're mostly talking to our fellow climatists when we write about and discuss climate change. Very few people are going to stumble onto an article that changes their minds -- studies show that people tend to double-down on their convictions, instead.
If that was your analysis -- that articles on climate change are mostly preaching to the converted -- I missed it. My reaction was to the idea writing excludes action, because I write regularly about climate change and consider myself actively engaged otherwise.
And also, my writing has connected me with certain people, one of whom works in world government, and we are drafting various articles under the banner of "solutions journalism" to help do more than scream into the wind.
If we can't convince non-believers, we can still promulgate solutions proposals to those who understand, and can do bigger things.
All the best,
TJ
