And, I think, they picture far worse: that climate change is the subterfuge to assert a totalitarian state or global new world order. That it is a tool of the socialists towards illiberalism and control.
Medium is sort of a bubble for the left, so it's unsurprising you've only received a negative comment "from time to time." The real philosophical division in the left-leaning climate debate, I've found, having been writing about climate for several years on here, is in the doomer versus techno-optimist false binary.
The former tend to accuse the latter of believing that "business as usual" is achievable by this one-for-one swap to renewables. That this is impossible, and ignores too many other symptoms of planetary overshoot; indeed, that it may exacerbate them.
As far as capitalism's role in the great switch to green, speaking personally now, I've not seen too much that's promising. The rooftop solar rollout, having been largely handed over to Wall Street, has left much to be desired as it falls victim to the usual problems of "reward hacking" or runaway optimization. These destructive forms of capitalism, which have only seemed to grow more malignant, probably have to be addressed before we really take any facts and figures seriously about a "green economy."
All the best
