Thanks for reading and commenting. My ideal president is probably 55-65, secular, well-educated, with at least ten years of public office experience. Climate change is his or her main concern; preparing the country for mass migration, food shortages, droughts, floods, etc. Transitioning away from fossil fuels to renewables not because they'll "solve" the problem, but because they'll help mitigate it, to buy the world a little time to adapt.

My ideal president doesn't get us into wars. He or she recognizes Putin and Xi Jinping as autocrats. He or she focuses on the vitality of all Americans, puts the squeeze on wealth inequality and enforces antitrust violations. Really, if I'm being honest, this president is pretty much Bernie Sanders, just younger and less yelling.

So, yeah, Biden falls short for me, too. But I prefer the devil I know to the devil I don't -- I'm not willing to go down the banana republic road. I can't let my country, that I love, slip into fascism.
