This comment is a bit of shotgun argument; I'll try to pick up some of the pieces.

By your standard, animals don't die "humanely" in the wild, either. So there's no leg to stand on there.

My article considers an argument from a talented Medium writer that small farms, despite being high in animal welfare otherwise, are still unethical because the animal's life is taken before it would "naturally" succumb.

This presupposes animals have an awareness of how long they have lived. But we're almost certain they don't, so the argument fails.

I would say that, more importantly, I am a huge advocate for meat and dairy consumption reduction, and at least think it's better for people who won't give up meat and dairy to procure their food from local farms as opposed to big factories, CAFOs. I.e. harm reduction.

My guess is that this not tenable to you either, because your cause is really much more religious than pragmatic.
