I have some friends in Austin who share your grievances. I'm in the Adirondacks of upstate NY. As it stands, we're well suited to deal with climate change. As is the Great Lakes region and other northern states. And of course, Canada. But I predict mass migration north in the coming years. It will first be a lot of wealthy people who can afford second and third homes. They'll influence (read: buy) regional and state policy. And while I'd like to think there will be many nice, well-meaning people among them, my more cynical side anticipates climate gentrification and exclusionary practices set up to deal with the *real* mass migration -- people fleeing floods and heatwaves by the millions. They're going to wind up in refugee camps, basically. Anyway, I'm rambling... lol
