I've gotta hand it to you, MC, you're having quite a run here on Medium attacking the same straw man over and over again.

This "hope" that's insane to believe in -- what exactly is it? That we're going to reverse climate change? Or that we're going to come up with some panacea that makes it all okay? I don't know anyone who thinks that. And even if there are some people who do, yep, they're almost certainly wrong.

In the meantime, there's mitigation. It's not reprieve, it's the difference of 2 degrees or 3 degrees by year X. It's the difference between a million people in tropical country X having time to leave before a heatwave kills them all.

Wanting to give every human a better chance at well being -- especially those humans who have hardly contributed to this problem but are going to suffer the worst effects of it -- is not "insane" or "faulty reasoning." It's as clear-sighted as it gets.
