I’ve written 25 published novels. I wrote 7 before the first one was published. It took about 6 of the published ones before I made a living. I make a living now, but it’s a modest one ($50k / year average). I have to write about 3 books a year to keep up. I’ve had 10 editors, 3 publishers. And still I can walk through my town and no one knows I write for a living. There’s no glamor, no “influencing,” I don’t do book signings or have a social media following.
