Nathan, nice article. Great to see other people out there doing it! Looks like Slovenia has a relatively warm plant hardiness zone, from 6b to 9a! So yeah, lettuce might be difficult. And more so in the coming years. (Though, like you're noticing, the squashes and melons love the heat.)

Where I am in the northeast US (zone 4b), we have a very short growing season I'm learning to extend by using cold frames and a hoop house. Every year is something different. I try different composting techniques, different crops, and the weather is unique each summer.

But across all farming, climate change is affecting how we grow food. Small holders (small farm owners) number around 600 million and produce a 1/3 of worlds fruits and veg. They're under threat from climate change, with hard midsummer heats and either too much rain or not enough.
