Not where I was expecting this article to go. (Not that that's a bad thing.) My observation of Russell Banks is that he's been searching for his niche. There was "The Trews," where he poked fun at current cultural events, and "Under the Skin" to discuss spiritualism and psychology. But these only garnered him a few hundred thousand views per clip.
As soon as he started with the BOLD headlines and the THINGS THEY DON'T WANT YOU TO KNOW about every possible "end of freedom" topic, (The great reset! Bill Gates! Covid!) his views and subscribers jumped, because nothing gets attention and engagement like moral panic.
I don't consider him right wing, just a sell out, and now just another part of our problem with mass communication.
