I know very little about publishing non-fiction, despite my own here on Medium and a few other places. For non-fiction books, I suspect it's still mostly an agent-and-trad-publisher type of situation.

But who knows what can happen in time. Like I wrote to another reader here asking about memoirs, these digital-first independent publishers are working in a crowded market and always looking for new ways to standout, to include more authors, to reach more readers. Non-fiction could certainly be a part of that.
