The analogy of an asteroid headed to earth (as in the movie "Don't Look Up") feels so apt. From where I sit, the climate crisis should be a four-alarm emergency to surpass Covid. Everything we do needs to change; how we use energy, resources, how we live and build our societies and travel -- all of it has to be completely envisioned anew. Yet the number one issue for people is still "the economy." Despite having more wealth and creature comforts than any time in human history, we want more. This taps into something fundamental about humanity that perhaps veers into religious territory... suffice it to say, our politics is little more than an expression of where we're at collectively. And it's nowhere near being able to effectively deal with what's happening.
