Well written. Well said. I totally agree we have more important things to focus on. It seems to me though that the noise of the culture war is about more than the Republicans having nothing else to crusade about (though I agree they don't have much). It's a strategy. It's retail politics. It's how to win votes. Telling old conservatives that the libs are coming for their free speech, opening the borders and turning their grandkids gay galvanizes the base.
